Mentally healthy workplaces workshops
The Office of Industrial Relations (OIR) has delivered mentally healthy workplaces events to over 7000 participants. This year, OIR is updating the program and providing online modules to reach more workplaces. During this development phase, OIR has established a panel of approved facilitators that organisations can engage on a user-pays basis.
Workplaces can directly engage from an OIR established panel to deliver the Mentally healthy workplaces workshops, either in-person or online, on a user-pays arrangement.
These workshops are designed for managers and supervisors and build foundational skills to identify, assess and manage risks to psychological health and safety within teams. The content aligns with the Mentally healthy workplaces toolkit and supports practical application in the workplace.
Option 1: In-person Mentally healthy workplaces workshops
Workplaces can engage a facilitator from the OIR established panel to deliver in-person workshops covering two modules:
Module 1 – Psychological health and safety
Provides an overview of:
- legislation relevant to psychological health and safety
- organisational data which can be monitored to assess risk to workers’ psychological health and safety
- process for identifying and assessing psychosocial hazards and factors that can affect psychological health
- integrated model for promoting positive mental health practice, preventing psychological harm and developing control measures.
Module 2 – Early intervention and supporting recovery
Provides supervisors and managers with a framework to:
- recognise warning signs to support early intervention
- have supportive conversations and identify suitable workplace adjustments to support recovery
- understand the privacy and disclosure requirements
- respond to critical and distressing workplace events
- role model positive behaviours.
Option 2: Online workshops
Workplaces can also engage a facilitator to deliver online workshops for Module 1 and/or Module 2. These sessions are highly interactive and practical. Participants will need access to a computer with a microphone, speakers and camera.
