Our investigation into the supply chain has identified sites that may have received soil potentially contaminated with asbestos.

Results from samples collected at schools and public parks will be published as they become available.

Schools and public parks

Positive detection

Sites that have completed testing and returned a positive result for asbestos:

  • Greenbank, Everleigh dog park, Low risk. (Construction site. Area not accessible to public. Remediation in progress)

Our priority is to ensure sites are safe for their intended use. The action required at sites where asbestos in soil has been detected will vary depending on their use and public access.

Negative detection

Sites that have completed testing and returned a negative result for asbestos:

  • Calamvale, Calamvale Special School
  • Corinda, St Aidan’s Anglican Girls’ School
  • Coorparoo, Wynola Park
  • Jimboomba, Flagstone State School
  • Kangaroo Point, Behind new residential development on Thornton Street, C.T. White Park
  • Springfield, Spring Mountain State School
  • Kingston, Groves Christian College
  • Logan Reserve, New residential development at Stockland Halcyon Rise

Sites that may have received potentially contaminated soil and are awaiting results:

Remediation complete

Sites previously tested positive, with management/ remediation completed:

  • Morningside, Downtown Toyota
  • Rosewood, Walloon State School
