The recall covers Searchlight brand ceiling light fittings with the following article numbers and model names:

  • 101468850: Searchlight - Siebe 1 Light Copper Pendant
  • 101468868: Searchlight - Quay 1 Light Chrome Pendant
  • 101468841: Searchlight - Regis Chandelier Chrome and Clear

Safety issue

Risk of electric shock

These light fittings do not comply with the standard AS/NZS 60598.1.

The luminaire may become electrically live due to inadequate clearance between the terminal block and its metal parts.

Product sold at

These units were sold in Masters stores throughout Australia from 4 April to 7 December 2015.

Advise customers for whom they may have installed this brand and model of light fitting.

Customers

  • Customers who have had the lights installed should immediately contact any Masters store or customer service on 1300 337 707, where arrangements will be made for an inspection by an electrician.
  • Customers should not touch or attempt to uninstall the light fittings themselves.
  • Customers should immediately return the uninstalled Searchlight brand light fittings to any Masters store for a full refund.

The recall covers the fixed luminaire - LOCK ceiling lamp (article no. 000.652.04, 000.556.91) and HYBY ceiling lamp (article no. 102.163.73).

Safety issue:

Risk of injury or damage due to mechanical hazards.

The glass enclosure of the fixed luminaire ceiling lamp may fall due to instability.

These units were sold by IKEA stores in Australia between 1 December 2002 and 21 January 2016.

Advise customers for whom they may have installed this brand and model of light fitting.

Consumers

  • If LOCK or HYBY ceiling lamps are already installed, customers should immediately contact IKEA customer service for further information.
  • Customers should not remove the product themselves. Proof of purchase (receipt) is not required for a full refund or replacement.
  • Customers should immediately return uninstalled LOCK or HYBY ceiling lamps to any IKEA store for a full refund.

Identification:

Advanced Lighting Technologies Australia, Inc has become aware of several incidents involving high bay luminaires where certain capacitors installed in our high bay luminaires have failed in a destructive manner.

The probability of such incidents is quite low, however, Advanced Lighting Technologies has elected to proactively address the issue with customers.

High bay luminaires beginning with the following product code prefix:

  • Z#
  • ZA
  • ZAL
  • ZAR
  • ZC
  • ZE.

The potentially affected capacitors can be identified by:

  • the brand name 'Atco'
  • the country of origin designation as 'Made in Germany'
  • the model 'CP' type 250V
    • 18uf
    • 20uf
    • 25uf
    • 30uf
    rated lighting capacitor.
  • the batch numbers '26/04' to '30/05', indicating the capacitor was manufactured between June 2004 to July 2005.
  • the luminaire production dates between '29/04' (July 04) to '01/06' (January 06)

Safety issue:

It is possible that affected capacitors could fail in a destructive manner, resulting in parts of the capacitor melting and / or smoke originating within the luminaire.

If customers have a specified light fitting please call Advanced lighting and have your product part number / description, order and supplier details ready. Advanced Lighting will take your details and confirm whether you have affected capacitors and confirm corrective action.

For affected products, Advanced Lighting will provide a lamp refurbishment pack. This provides the opportunity to replace the ageing lamp, and as the same time the capacitor without disruption of illumination.
