Renew or reinstate your electrical work licence

You can manage your work licence online using the ESO Electrical Licensing Portal.

  • You can renew your electrical work licence up to two months before it expires.
  • You can reinstate an expired electrical work licence within 12 months of it having expired. Your reinstated licence will be issued with an expiry date five years from the original expiry date.

Before you begin

After you link to your licence in the portal and before you begin the renewal process you need to ensure you have completed the following:

  • your skills maintenance using the free skills maintenance online assessment within two years of your renewal. (Note: The use of a Digital ID is voluntary. Please contact Electrical Licensing on 1300 632 993 to make an alternative arrangement).
  • CPR refresher training within twelve months of your renewal and
  • for electrical linesperson licence holders pole-top or transmission tower rescue training (PTR) within twelve months of your renewal.

You are not required to provide copies of your CPR or PTR certificates or skills maintenance certificate when you renew but you may be required to provide it at a later date for auditing purposes.

Once you are ready to proceed, please renew your electrical licence.

Licences expired longer than twelve months

If your electrical work licence is expired longer than 12 months you need to apply for a new licence. For more information please go to Other licence application types.
