Who has obligations?

Manufacturers, importers or suppliers must not supply plant listed in Schedule 5 unless the design has been registered, as stated in the Work Health and Safety Regulation 2011 (the Regulation).

When do I need to apply?

You need to apply to register both new plant designs and plant designs that have been modified.

Manufacturers, suppliers and importers must comply with the provisions of the Regulation for the supply of plant that requires the design to be registered. These items of plant must not be supplied unless the design is registered. The design registration number issued by Workplace Health and Safety Queensland, or another health and safety regulator, must also be provided with the plant.

Plant design registration from another regulator

If you hold a plant design registration from another health and safety regulator you are not required to re-apply in Queensland. You can provide the design registration number that was issued by the other regulator.

After you apply

We will issue you a registration document once the your application has been processed. You must keep this document available for inspection under the legislation. This document is the record of the registration number and the type of plant the design registration was issued for.
