Noosa Shire Council

Category five – Best commitment to work health and wellbeing

Noosa Shire Council recognises the importance of embedding health and wellbeing knowledge, awareness, and processes into their organisation to help create a happy culture and workplace. They embed their values of Supportive, Passionate, Authentic, Respectful, and Committed (SPARC) into everyday work life so that employees are supported to be mentally fit and healthy and can thrive personally and professionally.

Recognising that work health and safety is a key priority to fulfilling these organisational values, their management system provides a strategic framework that ensures compliance of work health and safety legislation. All employees are kept up to date with required information through online and face-to-face training, and the council regularly reviews and modifies their work health and safety management system to keep up with the changing wellbeing environment that encompasses their employees.

In addition to these legislative requirements, Noosa Shire Council has also implemented a Thrive Wellbeing and Inclusion Committee, where representatives from each department contribute and are involved in deciding wellbeing and inclusion activities for the employees. They also initiated a Health and Safety Committee which is the voice of the employees regarding safety at work and ensures that their voices are heard when new decisions are made.
