To apply to become an accredited auditor for hazardous areas under the Electrical Safety Act 2002, complete Form 14 Application for appointment as an accredited auditor (PDF, 0.33 MB). Information on the application process is included in the guidance part of the form.
The Regulator will not appoint an applicant if there is no intent to perform hazardous area audits under the Electrical Safety Act 2002 in Queensland.
Categories of work
The applicant must choose the particular category for which you wish to be authorised to perform the work of an accredited auditor. Categories include:
- Category 1 – flammable gases and liquids (zones 0, 1 and 2)
- Category 2 – combustible dusts (zones 20, 21 and 22)
- Category 3 – flammable gases, liquids and combustible dusts (zones 0, 1, 2, 20, 21 and 22).
Key items to consider if applying to become a hazardous area accredited auditor
An applicant must demonstrate their capability for the role as an accredited auditor by submitting a capability statement. The statement must address attributes criteria as listed in the Application Form. The attributes are:
- skills and abilities,
- education / professional development
- work experience.
Accredited auditors must be covered by appropriate types and levels of both public liability, and professional indemnity insurance for the work to be performed.
If you are appointed, you must maintain this insurance for the duration of your appointment and you must only conduct work within the scope and level of insurance held.
A copy of your certificate of currencies must be submitted with your application form.
