Accredited auditors for government building and construction projects
The accredited auditor scheme provides independent oversight of safety systems and standards implemented on Queensland Government building and construction projects.
Auditors are accredited by Workplace Health and Safety Queensland and are under contract to meet the conditions of appointment for the three year duration of their accreditation. For a current list of accredited auditors, search for “PQC Contractor Auditor Register” on the Department of Housing and Public works website - Department of Housing and Public Works.
The accredited auditor scheme is used by the Department of Housing and Public Works on behalf of departments undertaking government building projects, and the Department of Transport and Main Roads.
Audit and assessment tools
Auditors assess the level to which construction contractors comply with the requirements of the Work Health and Safety Act 2011, the Work Health and Safety Regulation 2011 and any relevant codes of practice. To assist them in this function, Workplace Health and Safety Queensland maintains the following set of audit tools:

- Work health and safety management plan assessment report (DOC, 0.24 MB)
- Site inspection report (DOC, 0.65 MB)
These report templates are intended to be used by qualified and experienced health and safety auditors. Construction contractors wanting to use the templates to inform internal review or assessment procedures should apply them in conjunction with the legislation. Only the key requirements have been included in the report templates and there may be additional duties which must be met that are not detailed.
What to expect from an auditor
Auditors are accredited by Workplace Health and Safety Queensland to perform their role and are not Queensland Government employees. Auditors are expected to comply with the guidelines for the scheme as well as the Code of Conduct for the Queensland Public Service.
