Man pleads guilty for return to work as a carer
Around the time of 16 May 2009, the injured worker lodged an Application for Compensation for an injury to his right elbow. The claim was accepted and benefits were paid from 16 May 2009 to 9 May 2010. During the compensation period, the defendant returned to work in a similar role as a support worker/carer from 3 March 2010 until 27 April 2010. He failed to notify WorkCover that he had resumed work.
On 27 April 2011, the man pleaded guilty to one charge of fraud and eight false and misleading charges. He was sentenced to six months wholly suspended for all charges for an operational period of 12 months. He was ordered to pay restitution of $24,870 and associated costs.
