Be Recognised for hard work and dedication to safety

Easternwell Pty Ltd and Stanwell Corporation Limited are the latest to Be Recognised at the coveted gold level for their work health and wellbeing programs.

Easternwell, a Toowoomba subsidiary of Broadspectrum, provides drilling, well servicing and camp management services to the mining, minerals, oil and gas industries. Its 'Live Well' program focusses on mental health, physical activity, nutrition/health and financial support.

Live Well is embedded into the company's health safety and environment strategies. All levels of management have KPIs and are monitored and held accountable for their efforts and actions.

Senior management are key members of the wellbeing committee and leaders at all levels have a clear role to play, ensuring workers are consulted and engaged throughout. From a business perspective, Live Well is kicking goals: sick leave is down 35 per cent; the percentage of staff in the healthy BMI weight range has increased by 11 per cent; and there's increased participation every year.

Leaders at all levels are involved and committed to the program and employees are actively consulted and engaged. Stanwell's workers' compensation premium rate is 56 per cent lower than the industry average and its absentee rates and lag safety indicators have significantly reduced.
