These events are a great opportunity to show your commitment to building mentally healthy workplaces, nurture your teams' capabilities and improve workplace awareness of psychological health and safety and the value of early intervention.

Why this is important

Work related psychological injuries are more likely to result in workers having longer periods off work and in many cases never returning to work. Psychological injuries have a negative impact on the lives of workers and their families and come at a financial cost to everyone.

Successful rehabilitation and return to work after psychological injury is possible but can also be complex to manage if you don’t act early. You may need to navigate social, personal and environmental factors including conflicting views about capacity to work, fear of reinjury and workplace changes needed to support a safe and early return to work.

    This livestreamed session explores common event based and accumulative psychosocial hazards and factors in the design or management of work that increases the risk of psychological or physical harm, the types of controls you could consider and what ‘reasonably practicable’ means.
  • Diversity and inclusion for mentally healthy workplaces
    14 October 2022, 10.00 – 11.00 am
    In this free livestream Catherine Lee, Director and Founding partner of Lethbridge Piper and Associates, will be sharing insights on how neurodivergent workers may experience risk at work differently from their neurotypical co-workers – and what you can do to ensure you are making workplaces safer, healthier and more inclusive for neurodivergent workers.
  • Rehabilitation and return to work plans for psychological injuries
    25 October 2022, 10.00 – 11.00 am
    Hear from Julia Bunn, Queensland President of the Australian Rehabilitation Providers’ Association (ARPA), who will be discussing practical strategies to assist insurers develop effective rehabilitation and return to work (RRTW) plans for primary and secondary psychological claims. She will also look at the roles of various stakeholders who should be involved in RRTW planning.

    Cost: $50 + GST
    Join us for breakfast and hear from new Queensland Mental Health Ambassador Hayley Lewis, as well as a panel discussion where we discuss a hypothetical case with multiple psychosocial hazards and psychological health issues. We explore the role of different regulators and agency perspectives.
