Safe Work Month – register now!

Safe Work Month is held nationally in October, but this year in Queensland we’re taking a new approach to encourage a focus on safer, healthier workplaces for everyone, every day. The Work Well 365 series will give you practical advice to improve health and safety, injury rehabilitation and return to work at your workplace.

If you can’t make it to one of the events we’re hosting, in-person or online, you can organise your own toolbox safety talk or morning tea, using the free resources on the WorkSafe website.

Work Well 365 Speaker Series – livestreamed free!

15 September – Greg Toner Can you afford not to be using technology to manage work health and safety and injury recovery?

18 October – Panel discussion How effective workplace consultation, representation and participation can improve your health and safety outcomes

25 October – Julie Bunn Rehabilitation and return to work plans for psychological injuries

October’s flagship event, the Work Well Conference is a full day of professional development and networking for those on the front line of health and safety and return to work.

Opening the conference is the new Chair of the Work Health and Safety Board, Jorgen Gullestrup. A plumber by trade, Jorgen has a wealth of experience in work safety issues and a special interest in mental health matters as the former CEO for Mates in Construction – a suicide prevention initiative for the construction industry. He comes to the Board with a strong focus that workplace health and safety must be for the whole person involving both physical and mental health and safety.

This year’s conference speakers will highlight prevention through design, understanding how to use data to inform safety, investigating workplace injuries, safety culture, as well as experiencing unexpected career change and complex case management.

Early bird registrations are only $150 (ex GST) but be quick – they close 30 August. Full day registrations after this date are $200. Morning tea, lunch, and afternoon tea are included.

And don’t forget, you can go that extra step and become an exhibitor at the conference to maximise your business’ exposure to work health, safety and return to work professionals. This year there are just 20 exhibition spaces on offer. Read more about the Work Well Conference, or email safeworkmonth@oir.qld.gov.au.
