Safe Work and Return to Work Awards 2019 now open

If you have a success story to share, or know of someone who deserves to be recognised for their achievements in work health and safety or rehabilitation and return to work, enter or nominate now for the Safe Work and Return to Work Awards 2019.

Queensland's premier work safety awards go from strength to strength and this year include a major new category - Best demonstrated healthy and safe work design. If your entry into one of the other categories demonstrates good work design, you could be nominated by the judges for this new category.

The Awards recognise outstanding achievements and ingenuity and are a platform to share ideas and solutions which keep workers safer and healthier. Businesses large and small, city and country can enter, which a range of categories to suit all.

This year's winners will be announced by Safety Ambassador Shane Webcke at a gala ceremony on Wednesday 9 October, with prizes on offer of up to $2000. All finalists will receive widespread promotion across the state of their success in making workplaces safer and more productive.

This year's categories are:

Category 1 – Best solution to an identified health and safety issue.

Category 2 – Best individual contribution to work health and safety.

Category 3 – Best solution to an identified electrical safety issue.

Category 4 – Most significant improvement to work health and safety performance.

Category 5 – Best commitment to work health and wellbeing.

Category 6 – Best demonstrated leadership in work health and safety (Closed category – entrants for this category are chosen by the judging panels from categories one to five).

Category 7 – Injured worker achievement award (serious injury and return to work).

Category 8 – Best rehabilitation and return to work management system.

Category 9 – Best individual contribution to rehabilitation and return to work.

Category 10 – Best demonstrated leadership in return to work (Closed category – entrants for this category are chosen by the judging panels from categories seven to nine).

New Category 11 - Best demonstrated healthy and safe work design (Closed category – entrants for this category are chosen by the judging panels from categories one to five or seven to nine).
