New safety network for Wide Bay agriculture employers

A new group called the Wide Bay Area Safety Network is giving agriculture industry employers tips and advice on how their workplaces can be safer and more productive.

The inaugural meeting was held in Childers, covering the following topics:

• Greensill Farming presented a study on managing worker exposure to chlorine dioxide
• Thermal Hyperformance highlighted risks and control strategies for heat stress
• the Electrical Safety Office presented on farm electrical safety and resources for employers
• Workplace Health and Safety Queensland provided an update on recent compliance audits, advisory campaigns and policy changes affecting the industry, as well as unveiling the BeUpstanding program developed by the University of Queensland to reduce sedentary behaviour.

The next meeting is scheduled for Tuesday 18 June in Childers. The Network is free to join and is for business owners, managers and safety professionals looking to learn from their peers and keep up to date with the latest in safety.
