Safe Work Month 2023: Fostering a culture of safety and wellbeing in the workplace

Organisations and workers across Queensland are gearing up for Safe Work Month 2023. The month of October serves as a crucial reminder of the paramount importance of workplace safety and the collective responsibility to create a secure and healthy work environment.

Safe Work Month holds significance for both employers and employees. It acts as a catalyst for change, encouraging businesses to review their safety protocols, identify potential hazards, and implement measures to mitigate risks. At the same time, it empowers workers to actively participate in fostering a culture of safety, reinforcing their rights to a secure workspace, and equipping them with knowledge to prevent accidents.

This year, the spotlight shines on the importance of effective leadership in promoting safety, as well as the significance of collaboration.

Throughout the month, an array of engaging activities and events will take place, including workshops, webinars, training sessions, and conferences. These activities are designed to equip participants with valuable insights, practical tools, and resources to improve workplace safety. Key topics will include risk assessment, mental health and wellbeing, emergency response planning, and the adoption of innovative safety technologies.
