Public comment on Electrical Safety Act closing soon

The independent review of the Electrical Safety Act 2002 led by QBCC Board Chair Dick Williams is underway, considering updates to address the relevance and effectiveness of all definitions and all duties and requirements under the Act (and subordinate legislation), including on suppliers and generating entities.

The review also is considering the alignment of provisions in the Act with Queensland’s work health and safety legislation and future-proofing the Act for new and emerging energy technologies, including renewable energy generation and storage devices.

Key stakeholders were consulted and public consultation includes an issues paper and supporting materials available at Electrical safety laws. The public submission process will end on 18 April 2021.
