Who are your health and safety representatives?

Have you told us who your health and safety representatives (HSRs) are? If your workers have elected HSRs, you must notify Workplace Health and Safety Queensland (WHSQ).

HSRs are an effective way to consult with workers on health and safety matters that affect them. If your workers haven't asked to be represented by an HSR, why don't you suggest it to them? Information about the election process, duties of a HSR and work groups is available on our website.

Officers of a PCBU, for example company directors, also have due diligence obligations to ensure the PCBU takes reasonable steps to consult with workers. See the Work health and safety consultation, co-operation and co-ordination code of practice 2021 (PDF, 0.49 MB) for further information on consulting with workers.

Email HSR information to WHSnotification@oir.qld.gov.au or phone 1300 362 128. For large work sites with multiple work groups and HSRs, use the spreadsheet (XLSX, 0.01 MB). You should provide:

  • the name of the HSR and date elected
  • the work group the HSR represents
  • a contact phone number, work and email address.

It is also a legislative requirement to display a list of HSRs where all workers can see it.
