Book a safety advocate visit
Our safety advocates increase awareness about the importance of work health and safety, highlight the personal impacts that an injury can have on workers and their families and prompt discussion about work health and safety.
Julie and Don Sager are Workplace Health and Safety Queensland (WHSQ) safety advocates who lost their 25-year-old son to mesothelioma – an asbestos-related disease.
Losing breath – The Adam Sager story raises awareness of the dangers of disturbing asbestos without adequate precautions, in the hope of sparing other families from going through what Julie and Don have had to endure.
Their story will drive home the reasons to work safely with asbestos containing materials and being aware of where it may be found.
With Asbestos Awareness Week approaching from 24 November to 1 December 2025, the Sager’s can speak free of charge to your business, community group or school. Book a visit.
Quad bike safety
Mario and Jodie Cocco are WHSQ safety advocates who are passionate about sharing their story about their son Dominic who was seriously injured while riding a quad bike.
He was not wearing a helmet and had not had any formal training.
Their story is a stark reminder of the importance of safe quad bike use. Wear a helmet, ensure they’re trained, ensure kids only ride kid-sized quads, and don’t ride double or overload. You can hear more about their story. Jodie and Mario can also come out to your school, workplace or community group, to make a booking check out Safety Advocate workplace visits.
