Reasonable Management Action (RMA) Factsheet
New guidance about psychological injuries and RMA was published on the WorkSafe website in December 2024.
The guide for workers on psychological injury claims and reasonable management action (PDF, 0.17 MB) outlines when psychological injuries arising from work may be eligible for compensation, and when an injury may not be eligible to be compensated.
Further details can be found at Mental injuries under “Worker” and “Carer, partner or family member” resources.
Mandatory Scheme Information Statements
A new requirement for workers’ compensations insurers to provide information statements to workers (PDF, 0.14 MB) and employers (PDF, 0.14 MB) on their rights and responsibilities under the workers’ compensation scheme commenced on 1 January 2025. An insurer must give a worker and their employer an information statement as soon as practicable after a workers’ compensation claim is lodged.
The information statements explain workers’ compensation rights and responsibilities and clarify common myths (for example, around a workers’ choice of treating doctor).
Employer-provided information statements have not been approved by the Regulator, meaning employers do not have obligations to provide information statements.
Further details can be found at Workers' compensation laws.
Sunset review of the Workers’ Compensation and Rehabilitation Regulation 2014
The Workers’ Compensation and Rehabilitation Regulation 2014 (Regulation) supports several provisions of the Workers’ Compensation and Rehabilitation Act 2003.
In Queensland, regulations generally expire or 'sunset' after 10 years unless action is taken to preserve them, with the Regulation set to expire on 31 August 2025.
Workers’ Compensation Policy is progressing a sunset review to evaluate the continuing need, effectiveness and efficiency of the Regulation. For further information, please contact wcschemereview@oir.qld.gov.au.
