What is PErforM?

Participative Ergonomics for Manual Tasks (PErforM) is a simple, internationally recognised program that helps workplaces reduce sprain and strain injuries from hazardous manual tasks by involving workers in finding solutions.

Who developed PErforM?

It was created by Workplace Health and Safety Queensland (WHSQ), the University of Queensland, and Curtin University of Technology.

Who uses PErforM?

Industries like mining, construction, manufacturing, aged care, and food processing have successfully implemented PErforM.

The benefits of the program include:

  • better control of hazardous manual task risks
  • compliance with workplace safety laws
  • increased productivity
  • a more knowledgeable workforce.

What does it cost?

WHSQ provides free resources, training, and some support. Businesses only need to train their staff and budget for implementing solutions.

Who provides the training?

WHSQ offers free ‘Train the Trainer’ workshops and information sessions to help businesses implement PErforM. Participants receive training, hands-on experience with the risk assessment tool, and access to all resources.
