Office of Industrial Relations at Brisbane Home Show
The Office of Industrial Relations (OIR) through Workplace Health and Safety Queensland (WHSQ) and the Electrical Safety Office (ESO) engaged directly with Queensland homeowners and renovators at the recent Brisbane Home Show.
OIR was an exhibitor at the Brisbane Convention and Exhibition Centre for the Home Show which is Australia’s longest running home improvement expo.
It provided a unique opportunity to directly reinforce asbestos and electrical safety messaging and advice to homeowners.
An interactive display with a switchboard and safety switches demonstrated what a typical switchboard might look like, and inspectors discussed how to check different brands of switches and how to locate switches for different circuits with those that visited our stand at the Brisbane Home Show.
The OIR stand also had an asbestos display cabinet for attendees to view samples of asbestos found around the home to help them identify any potential hazards
OIR will return to the Brisbane Home Show from 11-13 September 2026.
