Micro-course now available - effective supervision of electrical apprentices
The Electrical Safety Education Committee and the Electrical Licensing Committee (ELC) have worked together to ensure electrical apprentices, and their supervisors have access to the appropriate educational resources and support.
Key initiatives include the Safe working and supervision guide for electrical apprentices (PDF, 1.89 MB) and the micro-credential course Mentoring an apprentice or trainee that was released by TAFE Queensland.
Through this work, a need was identified for more targeted training for those supervising electrical apprentices.
With the support from TAFE Queensland and the Joint Electrical Training Council (JETCO) in collaboration with industry stakeholders, the new micro-credential course Effective Supervision of Electrical Apprentices is now available.
The course is designed to improve safety and compliance in electrical apprentice supervision, offering accessible, flexible and industry-relevant online training. It outlines practical leadership techniques, skills and strategies that can be applied in the workplace.
All electrical licence holders, as well as apprentices nearing completion of their training, are encouraged to complete both micro-credential courses as the ESO and the ELC are continuing to see apprentices and licence holders receiving electric shocks.
Both courses are free to complete. The student will also be issued with a certificate of completion as well as a digital badge.
