Stay compliant, stay safe - Electrical Equipment Safety System requirements

Attention Electrical Contractors in Queensland - do you supply electrical equipment such as circuit breakers, socket outlets, luminaires and switches?

If yes, under the law you are either a Responsible Supplier (manufacturer or importer) or you are a Second or Subsequent Supplier in the supply chain of In-Scope electrical equipment.

It is crucial to ensure that all your products comply with the Regulatory Compliance Mark (RCM).

Compliance with the RCM guarantees that your equipment meets the necessary safety and performance standards.

By law, Queenland operates under the Electrical Equipment Safety System (EESS), and there are requirements for supplying electrical equipment.

Responsible Supplier

Subsequent Supplier

  • Source the equipment from a Responsible Supplier who is registered on the EESS Registration Database.
  • Ensure that equipment is registered on the EESS Registration Database (for Level 2 and Level 3) against the registered Responsible Supplier.
  • Ensure the equipment is marked with the Regulatory Compliance Mark (RCM) in accordance with requirements listed in AS/NZS 4417.1 & AS/NZS 4417.2 .

Search the EESS Registration Database to see if your supplier is a Registered Responsible Supplier.
