Reminder: Register of licensed electrical workers
Are you keeping a register of your licensed electrical workers?
If you are a licensed electrical contractor in Queensland, you are legally required to keep an up-to-date register of your licensed workers.
Under Section 57AB of the Electrical Safety Act 2002 and Section 67 of the Electrical Safety Regulation 2013, every electrical contractor must maintain a register that includes the following key details of each electrical worker:
- The name of the worker and licence number (or identifier if it’s an external licence)
- the class of licence
- if it’s a restricted electrical work licence – the type of electrical work stated on the licence.
- any conditions or restrictions listed on the licence
- the day the licence expires
- if it’s an external licence – the jurisdiction where it was issued.
The register must be:
- kept up-to-date
- available for inspection by the regulator or an inspector at any time.
