Keep your apprentices powered up during Electrical Safety Fortnight
With Electrical Safety Fortnight here, several large apprentice providers are hosting forums across Queensland on 3 September 2025.
The forums serve as a platform to connect apprentices and keep them informed about their Workplace Health and Safety responsibilities, and promoting safe practices while on the job.
Commissioner for Electrical Safety Keith McKenzie said it was a privilege to train an apprentice.
“I’m a staunch advocate for apprentice safety, and for ensuring they are trained properly to tackle their jobs with confidence and a thorough understanding of how to keep themselves and their workmates safe,” Mr McKenzie said.
“Electrical work can be fraught with danger – it only takes a second to make the wrong decision that could have catastrophic consequences.
“The Electrical Safety and Other Legislation Amendment Regulation 2024 (ESOLA Regulation) that began in January this year enhances electrical safety measures in Queensland, implementing key changes to improve safety protocols for electrical work, and it is vital that all electrical workers are aware of the changes.
“Whether it be a first or a fourth-year apprentice, your guidance and mentoring will shape their skills as well as the safety culture and safe work behaviours that you instil in them.
“These forums are a great place to discuss industry news and help apprentices understand what it means for them - that’s why I’m encouraging all businesses no matter how big or small to host a forum or a toolbox talk this Electrical Safety Fortnight.”
Electrical Safety Fortnight runs from 1-14. September
