Get ready: upcoming construction campaign- mobile plant and traffic management

From March to April 2025, Workplace Health and Safety Queensland (WHSQ) will conduct a statewide proactive compliance campaign in the construction industry. The campaign will target mobile plant and traffic management, with a focus on the interaction between pedestrians and mobile plant on sites.

Businesses should prepare for the campaign by assessing their compliance with the onsite traffic management self-assessment tool (PDF, 0.36 MB).

Other resources created in collaboration with industry stakeholders are also available to help, including:

Throughout the campaign, WHSQ inspectors will:

  • conduct audits of high-risk construction workplaces throughout Queensland to assess the management of mobile plant risks, traffic management risks and safe work practices near mobile plant
  • focus on critical areas including hazard identification, safe systems of work, exclusion zones, vehicle routes, pedestrian walkways and loading/unloading areas
  • assess compliance and take action where breaches are identified in accordance with the compliance monitoring and enforcement policy.

This campaign is part of WHSQ’s Compliance and Field Services Proactive Compliance Program 2024-2027 (PDF, 0.65 MB). Together, we can create safer construction workplaces across Queensland.
