Building a sustainable and psychologically strong organisation

Simon will discuss the complex requirements to develop and maintain a psychologically sustainable workplace. He will also address what a strategic wellbeing plan looks like and how to allocate limited and finite resources to ensure best value and impact.

The session shares a practical and evidence based approach to helping organisations support their people through understanding and mitigating risk. Delegates will learn how to best to prepare their people for the foreseeable and inevitable risks in contemporary workplaces.

Fatigue risk management

Dr Mabbott’s presentation will provide an overview of how different stages of sleep affect different components of mental wellness and physical health and will provide information to assist in understanding what a sleep debt is, how to repay it and the effects of sleep restriction on both safety and productivity.

Delegates will walk away with a better understanding of their roles and responsibilities in managing fatigue risk, the tools used to avoid fatigue, along with ways to identify and manage the workplace processes and controls used to minimise fatigue onset and mitigate risk when fatigue is present in the workplace.

Dr Nick Mabbott is the Director of Beyond Midnight Consulting and has over 21 years’ experience in sleep and fatigue management. He has provided fatigue management training and education to thousands of personnel from office workers to the health, construction, transport, gas and mining sectors.

Understanding and responding to vicarious trauma

Rachel will discuss vicarious trauma, its causes, prevalence and the impact it can have on self and colleagues as well as how to recognise the early warning signs that you or a colleague might not be travelling so well.

Delegates will hear a number of coping strategies that individuals can use to deescalate their emotional reactions after exposure to trauma and explore best practice recovery strategies.

Rachel is the co-founder and Director of Psychological Services and Principal Organisational Psychologist at the Centre for Corporate Health and Resilia. Rachel specialises in helping organisations better manage mental health, psychological injury and workplace stress.

Kieran Flanagan

Kieran Flanagan

Building buy-in boot camp

Kieran is back by popular demand and to present the Building buy-in bootcamp. If you’re having trouble “selling” safety and influencing behavioural change to your workforce or leadership, Kieran will teach you how to up your buy-in and create messages that are more meaningful and compelling and actually cut through to those who matter.

Delegates will learn that in every ‘sale’ of a message, process or behaviour knowing the three levels of sale matters, how to leverage the three levels of a sale, why simplification is key and that focussing on who (not just what) creates greater buy-in.

Kieran Flanagan is an expert in making people change smart, future smart and people smart. She helps people harness the power of commercial creativity to change their current thinking and achieve more success in work, business and life.
