Category nine – Best individual contribution to rehabilitation and return to work
Michelle's philosophy on return to work is that people matter. She believes that by ensuring people are central to this process, you can achieve the best outcomes.
As an occupational therapist Michelle has developed a Person Environment Occupational Performance model (PEOP), a holistic approach that can be applied to individuals, groups, organisations and the community. Michelle does not isolate particular issues, instead she addresses the problem taking into account the different elements that may impact an individual to ensure successful and sustainable rehabilitation and return to work.
Other ways that Michelle has contributed to rehabilitation and return to work include but are not limited to:
- creating toolbox talks that have been used throughout industry
- educating students on the importance of rehabilitation and return to work at Bond University as an Assistant Professor of Occupational Therapy.
