Category twelve – Best individual contribution to rehabilitation and return to work
Kaye is the rehabilitation coordinator for the truck manufacturing site of Volvo Group Australia, which employs a large number of staff in a factory setting.
Kaye is dedicated to WorkCover Queensland's Recover at work (RAW) program with a number of injured workers participating at Volvo. She has mentored supervisors with return to work and stay at work advice, specifically encouraging supervisors in her workplace to consider equipment that allows an injured worker to continue working in their normal role.
Kaye believes the sooner an employee can return to work after illness or injury, the better the individual's wellbeing and personal health will be. She believes suitable duties must be productive, meaningful and a well-managed process. Kaye builds and executes a suitable duties plan in partnership with the individual, Volvo and health practitioners. Her commitment to rehabilitation and return to work includes her significant input into the new staff inductions. She ensures there is a strong influence on promoting the Volvo workers' compensation and injury management policy, fitness for work program and psychological wellbeing policies which all promote the importance of rehabilitation and return to the work place.
