National Inquiry into sexual harassment in Australian workplaces
On 20 June 2018 Australia’s Sex Discrimination Commissioner, Kate Jenkins, announced a National Inquiry into sexual harassment in Australian workplaces. The focus of the National Inquiry is on the nature and prevalence of sexual harassment in Australian workplaces, the drivers of this harassment and measures to address sexual harassment in Australian workplaces. The CEO of Safe Work Australia, Michelle Baxter, is a member of the Inquiry Reference Group.
The Commission wants to hear from as many people as it can in conducting the Inquiry. Public consultations are being held in all Australian capital cities and a number of regional cities. You can find out more about the consultations here.
To assist interested parties to develop submissions to the Inquiry, the Australian Human Rights Commission has also prepared a Conversation toolkit.
Submissions close on 31 January 2019.
