WorkCover Queensland held its quarterly meeting with allied health associations on 22 February 2017. The meeting covered WorkCover’s education campaigns, return to work panel performance measures and upcoming events.

Associations in attendance included: Rehabilitation Counselling Association of Australasia (RCAA), Exercise & Sports Science Australia (ESSA), Australian Physiotherapy Association (APA), Australian Rehabilitation Providers Association (ARPA), and Chiropractors' Association.

Below is a summary of what was discussed.

Musculoskeletal injuries campaign

WorkCover shared the latest musculoskeletal injuries education campaign message which includes a guide to identifying and managing fatigue in the workplace, a case study highlighting how food can improve your productivity and a tool to audit your healthy eating options at work, and a webinar on the important role RTW coordinators play in promoting a safety culture in the workplace.

The current campaign will finish shortly and our next campaign which will be launched in the near future will focus on the ageing workforce.

Medical and allied health providers are invited to contribute specialist advice, such as tips to manage injuries and rehabilitation in the format of blog-style articles, via your WorkCover relationship manager.

Return to work services panel

We revisited the outcome measures being used to monitor the performance of the Return to work services panel. These include return to work outcomes, costs, durations and quality.

Providers on the panel each have a dedicated WorkCover relationship manager that is responsible for sharing results, providing feedback and looking at ways we can improve outcomes for our customers.

Minor allied health table of costs review

A minor review of the allied health table of costs is underway and are due for release on 1 July 2017. Any changes to fees will be based on the Brisbane CPI March quarter. Associations can share feedback with their WorkCover relationship manager before the end of March 2017.
