Talk to us about your patient's treatment options

Doctor on the phone

Did you know that when you're speaking with WorkCover Queensland to discuss treatment options for your patient's work-related injury, we are willing to pay for your time?

Verbal communication between a doctor and insurer can have a positive impact on the rehabilitation process for patients with faster decisions on lodged claims and early intervention for better return to work outcomes.

There is strong research evidence1 to support this and WorkCover is keen to talk and work with you, to realise the health benefits of work for your patients.

The benefits of verbal communication can include:

  • faster claim decisions for patients;
  • faster access to all relevant information to assist with decisions, return to work and rehabilitation approvals;
  • more open discussions, avoiding delays and undue stress for patients; and
  • creation of a supportive culture for the patient through the collaborative approach to their recovery and return to work.

The following tables highlight the relevant item numbers to use when billing for verbal discussions on treatment and rehabilitation. These tables are extracts from the current GP and Specialist Supplementary Services Table of Costs, effective 1 December 2018.

Please ensure you have appropriate procedures in place to record the duration of verbal discussions for accurate invoicing.
