Workplace bullying: legislative requirements
Workplace bullying is a risk to health and safety. It can occur wherever people work together in all types of workplaces. It is best dealt with by taking steps to prevent it from occurring and responding quickly if it does occur.
In a webinar presented on 11 June 2014, Shane Stockill, Principal Advisor (Psychosocial) from the Workplace Health and Safety Queensland Business Assistance Unit, provided businesses with practical guidance and assistance on how to identify and manage the risks of bullying in their workplace.
In particular, this session:
- covered the duties and expectations established by the Queensland health and safety laws and new national guides
- outlined what workplace behaviours may or may not be defined as bullying
- explained the range of risk controls identified in the new national guides
- provided general guidance on how an employer can effectively respond to complaints
- provided general guidance on how to conduct a workplace investigation into allegations of bullying.
