Podcast help

  • What is podcasting?
    • 'Podcasting' is a blend of the words 'iPod' and 'broadcasting'. Podcasting allows you to watch or listen to the downloaded episode via your computer, or transfer them to a portable mp3 player.

      All our podcasts are free.

  • What is an mp3?
    • MP3 is a popular audio file you can play on your computer or portable mp3 player. Our audio podcasts are produced into mp3 files where you can download and/or play online.

  • Do I need an iPod or mp3 player?
    • All you need is a computer connected to the internet to download the podcast. You will need a media player on your computer (many PCs come with Windows Media Player), and you'll also need some speakers or headphones. The advantage of transferring the downloaded podcast file onto a portable player is that you can then listen to them on the go.

  • Do I need special podcast software?
    • If you simply want to watch or listen to a podcast you can download it straight to your computer. All you need is an internet connection.

  • Download and save
    • If you want to save the file on your computer so you can play it later, click the 'Download MP3' link under each audio item.

Depending on the browser you're using, you might see a dialog box that asks you to Open or Save the podcast file. Browse to where you want to save the file, and click 'Save'. If the podcast starts to play when you click 'Download MP3', right-click instead and select the 'Save file as' or 'Save link as' option.

You can now play or transfer the MP3 file within any media program on your computer.

  • Listen online
    • You can listen online - or 'stream' - the podcasts directly, rather than downloading the files to your computer. Streaming means that you play the audio file directly from the website across your internet connection rather than downloading it and storing it on your computer. Depending on your connection, the file might sometimes stop and start again. This is called 'buffering'.

To stream the podcasts, click the Play button on the audio file you're interested in. It will play inside your web browser.

Note: Viewers can download the MP3 file, if they are using older versions of browser that do not support the feature to listen/play online.

  • How do I subscribe?
    • We currently do not offer a subscriber service or RSS feed to our podcasts.
