Welcome to the team!
We'll try to keep things pretty simple to explain how our team rolls:
Our CEO is Bruce Watson.
WorkCover also has an independent Board of Directors.
Our Minister is the Minister for Education and Minister for Industrial Relations, Honourable Grace Grace MP.
We also work closely with the Office of Industrial Relations (OIR). The OIR includes:
- Workplace Health and Safety Queensland (Enforces workplace health and safety laws and educates stakeholders on their legal obligations)
- The Workers' Compensation Regulator (Regulates the Queensland workers' compensation scheme, including self-insurers)
- The Electrical Safety Office (Develops and enforces legislative and compliance standards to improve electrical safety)

Customer Group
These teams work in partnership with employers, injured workers and other stakeholders to deliver high quality customer experiences at the lowest possible price.
Our focus on industry alignment is valued by our business partners because they know we understand their business and can provide the end-to-end customer experiences they're looking for.
Whether you're a small or large business, our holistic approach means you're covered from when an incident is reported, to when a claim is received and decided, through to case management, and specialist return to work services.
These teams also work closely with our largest employers, offering relationship management services and tailored policy and claim management solutions to suit the individual needs of their employers.
Additionally, they look after the relationships with medical and allied health providers, and other key stakeholders in Queensland, such as industry bodies and unions.
People and Finance Group
Our people and finance team focuses on people and money, but they also work on our long-term investment strategy, so that we are able to maintain minimum capital requirements and keep premium, claims costs and operating expenditure as low as possible.
This team also provides procurement services, statistical analysis, quality assurance and audit functions that support the whole business. And in case you hadn't noticed, they'll be the ones paying you, too. The team looks after everything throughout the employee lifecycle, everything from recruiting you into WorkCover, employee relations, your learning and development, health and safety, wellness and benefits to keep you engaged at work.
Solutions and Technology Group
The Solutions and Technology team delivers innovative technology solutions and online services which make it easy for customers to do business with us.
They support our business processes with technology that is reliable, sustainable and makes the work of our people easier and more efficient. And internally, our friendly Service Desk team are your first point of call for all of your technology queries.
Over 165,000 Queensland employers use our innovative online service – WorkCover Connect – to declare their wages, forecast and pay premiums, set up payment plans, track compensation claims and track their premium and claims performance against their industry.
WorkCover Connect is always evolving to meet our customers' needs – it's one of the reasons we won the 'Innovation in Injury and Disability Management' award at the recent 2018 PIEF national conference!
Additionally, our Worker Assist app for injured workers supports them throughout their claim. They can access real time information on their claim expenses, upcoming appointments and payment timeframes.
Strategic Development Group
The Strategic Development team works collaboratively across WorkCover to create our corporate strategy. They're bringing people together to design, develop and deliver better customer experiences and tailored education information for our customers which helps us achieve strong financial outcomes.
Common Law and Legal Group
The legal eagles provide strategic legal advice to WorkCover. They manage common law claims and contractual risks, provide advice on legislation impacts and support the CEO and the leadership team to achieve business outcomes which impact our reputation, bottom line and customers.
